Russian gardeners and gardeners, as a rule, grow tomatoes not only for the purpose of eating them fresh, but also to make canning for the winter. Tomato Qingdao, which will be discussed, is not suitable for making marinades, but it makes juices, tomato sauces, ketchups and pasta. This variety is also valued by gardeners for their ability to ripen during storage in a cold room - for example, in a cellar.
The tomato is intended for cultivation on an open ground (in regions with a warm climate) and in greenhouses.
Description and main characteristics
- Refers to the interminant types of plants.
- The height of the bush - from 1.2 to 1.3 meters.
- Each brush contains from 7 to 9 berries.
- Leaves ordinary standard dark green.
- The berries are round in shape.
- Ripen in 115-120 days.
- Weight 200-400 grams.
- Color maroon, closer to brown.
- Tomato has a high density, despite the presence of 6-7 chambers with seeds inside the fruit.
- The skin is thick, does not crack.
- The taste is sweet.
Each bush gives about 10 kilograms of fruit, from 25–30 kilograms of berries are obtained from one square meter.
Culture grown seedlings method. Seeds for seedlings are usually sown 60 days before planting in the ground. The term is selected individually in each region depending on the climate. Seeds before planting are treated in a solution of potassium permanganate - this protects the plant from infection with fungal diseases and raises immunity. A well would be good to treat with ordinary ash - then the acidity of the soil will decrease and a potash supplement will appear. As soon as the sprouts have a second leaflet, the seedlings need to be swooped - planted in different capacities. During a dive, seedlings should be fed with organic matter - manure, droppings or peat.
10-12 days before planting in the ground, the seedlings are hardened - they are taken out to the open air, each time increasing the time spent on the street and adding a few minutes daily. Due to this, the plants get used to the natural habitat - the sun and the air - and do not experience stress during transplantation to the site.
Transplanting and care
When the seedling is 2 months old, it is transplanted to a new place. If the ground is open, the area should be constantly illuminated by the sun and be heated. In the greenhouse, the temperature should not be below +25 degrees. One square meter is better to plant no more than 3 bushes, otherwise they will interfere with each other. The bush immediately undergoes formation in 2-3 stalks.
It is recommended to install supports near each bush in order to tie up the culture, otherwise it is likely that the bush will break under the weight of the fruit. To yield higher, remove the so-called growth point at the top of the plant.
Cultivating a crop includes watering, loosening the soil, feeding and fighting diseases. Watering need tomatoes once a day in the evening, when the sun sets below the horizon. For irrigation, separated warm water is used. It is desirable to loosen the soil as often as possible, because the top layer of the earth dries out and becomes hard, preventing air from penetrating to the roots.
Feed Qingdao preferably at least 2 times: the first time when the bushes begin to bloom, and the second - when the fruit begins to appear from the ovaries. As fertilizer, complex fertilizers are used - a mixture of mineral and organic.
At least twice a month it is recommended to weed the ground and remove weeds, because if they are available, the crop is reduced by 30-40 percent.
Unnecessary shoots must be ruthlessly removed so that they do not waste power and energy.
Protection against diseases and pests
Qingdao has low immunity, so the culture is quite capable of getting all garden diseases. Prophylactic treatment of seeds and soil is obligatory, it is worth following the plant carefully - as soon as signs of the disease become noticeable (twisted or yellowed leaves, rot, spots on the foliage) - it is necessary to take measures.
From pests (caterpillars, aphid, Colorado potato beetle) protection standard - spraying with special toxic agents.
Qingdao tomatoes are good for fresh consumption, suitable for processing, production of juices and other derivatives. For conservation, they are not suitable.
Unfortunately, tomatoes have two minuses. One big one - berries cannot be stored for a long time, on the 4-5th day vegetables should be used completely. And small - tomatoes are unsuitable for transportation over long distances, so it is desirable that the plot was closer to home.
