Bolognese - description of the breed and character of the dog

What comes to mind when you pronounce the word "bolognese"? That's right - the name of the Italian traditional dish - pasta with tomato sauce. But the correct pronunciation of this dish is “bolognese”, and the first option is the name of a unique breed of dog. It is sometimes called Bologna Bologna or Italian lapdog. Some people call this dog a French lap-dog, which is absolutely wrong.

This breed of dog is truly unique in all aspects: appearance, behavior, character traits. This beautiful pet causes emotion and delight, both in children and adults. This pet will fit perfectly even in a rural interior and will feel great in the lap of nature in the country. The most important thing is that the fluffy company should be the owners, because without attention and care, these animals simply cannot live.

What distinguishes this breed is the amazing beauty of white wool, which requires constant thorough care along with any expensive fur. It so happens that among the puppies of this breed you can find specimens with gray strands of wool. But such puppies make up a very small percentage of the total number and are considered an exception.

Another nice feature of such pets is an exorbitant love of cosmetic procedures. It is understandable. This love was formed on the basis of the fact that many secular ladies love to visit all sorts of beauty salons and take dogs with them.

It is noteworthy that these cute and soft-looking creatures have very strong and developed muscles, which makes them the strongest for representatives of dogs of their size. They are very strong and durable.

  1. If we talk about the generally accepted size of pets, then normal growth figures in males are 30 cm, and in females - 24.5 cm. Boys should not weigh more than 4 kg, and girls - no more than 3 kg.
  2. The head sizes of these dogs are medium, with a rounded, slightly protruding shape of the skull. A special uniqueness gives dogs the transition from the forehead to the face. It makes them look like dolls.
  3. The muzzle is square, straight lines.
  4. The eyes of the dogs are black, as well as the nose and lips. The eyes are in a straight position.
  5. Ears average, in a straight position. It looks like the standard of Italian bologna in all its glory.

  8. The tail of dogs does not have a great length. It is covered with thick hair and bent to the back.
  9. Paws in animals do not stand out in size and have an oval shape.

Sometimes pigment spots that may have a light brown, black or blue shade are hidden under the coat. This is considered normal, and no need to sound the alarm. On the contrary, such puppies have a higher value than regular ones.

These dogs are considered good companions not only for their good temper and cheerful nature, but also for a fairly long life for the dog. If you follow all the standards for the care of a pet, then they can live up to 14 years.

The unique story of a unique dog

As mentioned above, sometimes these animals are called French lapdogs. However, their homeland is not France at all, but Northern Italy. It was here that in the Middle Ages many of these white-haired dogs ran in the port cities. The main advantages that these pets had were:

  • Unpretentiousness in food.
  • Good-natured and cheerful character.
  • Easy maintenance and easy maintenance.
  • Nice exterior.
  • Small amount of consumed products.

Taking into account all the advantages of these creatures, the captains of the ships very often took the Bichon to sail. Thus, these lovely creatures spread throughout the wide world and gained immense popularity not only among the representatives of the maritime professions, but also of high society.

It is worth noting that in Italy itself, these dogs have always been very popular. Ladies from Bologna were very fond of starting them in their homes and even traveling with them. Since the Bichons were constantly close to their masters, it is not surprising that later they began to meet not only among French women, but also among German women.

But, if we turn to historical sources, we can see that initially in the boudoirs of the kings dwarf poodles appeared, which began to communicate very closely with the Bichons. Later, from such a friendship, a new type of Bolognese appeared - the Italian lap-dog.

From such a union appeared incredibly beautiful puppies with black eyes, as if specially tinted by professional makeup artists. These dogs can be found even in the pictures of famous masters of the Renaissance.

They also love to travel. A very convenient factor for the owners of these babies is their ability to endure long flights or journeys. These dogs get incredible pleasure while on the road.

Dogs of this breed are rather freedom-loving and independent. But, as well as adults, and children of this breed are very sociable and kind. But they show their sociability, as a rule, only in relation to their masters, and strangers are cautious and incredulous.

This distance is felt when you first visit the nursery. An animal may behave incredulously and even remotely for several minutes. But after a couple of minutes, when the dogs realize that they have come to them with exceptionally pure intentions, they become affectionate and playful.

Interesting fact! These cute creatures are able to make friends even with such a formidable dog as a pit bull. Their charm simply does not leave indifferent a fighting dog.

Those who are going to buy a lap-dog to their home should remember that this pet simply does not tolerate loneliness. And, if you cannot afford to spend most of your time with an animal, do not choose this breed.

Another advantage of the lapdogs is their genuine love for many care procedures, from which other dogs simply go berserk. Bolonka just loves everything related to the care of her body. You can calmly do all kinds of hairstyles to her, comb her endlessly, as well as bathe, do styling and blow dry. This dog will not tolerate, it will receive pleasure from it.

For the representatives of the pitbull breed, the main thing is to eat well, for fighting dogs - physical activity, and for the lapdogs the main thing is the attention and care of the owners. Perhaps it is for this reason that nature has made these babies so beautiful and cute. Looking at them, I just want to squeeze these beautiful creatures. Puppies of these pets look just like white clouds. If you are not going to buy these dogs for yourself at home, then you can just visit the nursery and enjoy the company of beautiful lap dogs.

Communication for lapdogs comes first, and it’s a pleasure to train them. They readily memorize a lot of things that the owner does and have high intelligence. The main thing that you must follow when training - no shouting and swearing at the animal. Everything is recommended in a playful way, as with a child. If the dog doubts the love of the owner to itself, it can get sick and plunge into depression. Therefore, to learn the rules of the training of these animals, it is recommended to visit the nursery, where you can get detailed information on all issues.

How to care

Of course, in the Middle Ages, the lapdogs were not so much looked after as now, but the rules for caring for animals are quite simple. The main thing is to process the pet's flea from fleas and make the prevention of worms and various parasites.

It is also necessary to feed pets and vaccinate in a timely manner. Particular attention is paid, of course, wool. From early childhood puppy need to be taught to comb.

So, we can say that representatives of the breed Italian lapdog has no flaws. This pet loves its owners, unpretentious in nutrition and kind. Choosing this friend yourself, you will never regret it. Good luck with your choice!
